Guild Wars 2 Goals Before The New Expansion

We still don’t know when the new expansion is going to drop, what’s in it, or what the story is going to focus on. It’s hard to prepare when you don’t know anything. So my goals will be based on what I know, and that’s content that’s already there.

There is one thing that was announced, and that’s the coming of the legendary armory. I don’t know when this will be implemented, before or after the launch of the expansion, but I’m excited. This is an addition to the build templates and gear load-outs. Now you only have to craft one legendary and you can use it on all of your characters. No more swapping via the shared inventory slots. This is an extra incentive for me to finally craft that first legendary and maybe even more. But before that, there are a few things that I’ve to do. Level my crafting to 500. I still haven’t done that for every profession.

Goals

  • Get all my characters to level 80
  • Level armorsmith, tailor, huntsman, artificer, and weaponsmith to 500
  • Unlock all Heart of Thorns masteries
  • Have 100% map completion with Naella Ysangwan on all maps available to me maps, excluding raids and WvW
  • Stay up to date with Icebrood Saga
  • Unlock all Living World masteries
  • Unlock the griffon mount
  • Unlock the skyscale mount
  • Full ascended armor set for ranger
  • Full ascended armor set for mesmer
  • Full ascended armor set for guardian
  • 100% map completion of Core Tyria for Miira
  • Bifrost

Guild Wars 15th anniversary

It’s the 15th anniversary of Guild Wars and the game is getting an update. The original game has been in maintenance mode for some time so no one expected a new patch. Especially not with ten new skills and new bosses to kill to capture those skills. I logged in a few days ago and I still see a lot of people in the hubs. I don’t know if they’re Guild Wars 2 players who want to fill up their Hall of Monuments, or just people who love Guild Wars so much they never moved on.

101 Goals, 1001 Days Reflection

It’s a little over a year ago since I started with this list and I already completed some of them. That was kind of the point, to pick long and short term goals.

Last year has been full of big changes. I quit my job to start writing and blogging full time while also taking care of my health. The few months after I quit, I was still busy with the wedding. Both before and after. It took up most of my energy just thinking about everything that had to be done. When all of it was done, there was this empty space left. I needed something to work on.

Yes, my writing, I know. But I also wanted to accomplish something on a personal level. I wanted to grow as a person. Using 101 Goals, 1001 Days, has allowed me to do so. Learning Japanese is purely for my own satisfaction (and my brother’s girlfriend is delighted that I’m doing my best getting to know her culture). Trying out new recipes is what will make our day to day life a little more adventurous. Eat something you’ve never eaten before. I want to learn new skills, but which are related to what I want to do professionally.

By combining long and short term goals, I always have the idea that I’m working towards something. Some things are easier to track than others (quality versus quantity), but that’s okay. I’m expanding my Japanese vocabulary and I notice that I don’t rely on the subs in animes that much anymore. It’s getting easier to work out new recipes when I want to substitute an ingredient and I also know how to work with flavor and spices.

I don’t notice my personal growth on a day-to-day basis, but looking at this list, I see that growth. I believe I’m a better person than I was before, but I still have a long way to go. I’m glad that I chose to do this even when the challenge seemed a little too daunting before. You don’t grow if you don’t challenge yourself.

101 Goals, 1001 Days: Cook all recipes from one cookbook

I’ll take my time explaining some goals and update on my progress for now and we start with cooking. The goal ‘cook all recipes from one cookbook’ has been on my list since I saw the movie of Julie and Julia and the book inspired me even more. I won’t go for Julia Child’s book, nor will I pick the French cuisine. If I go for a foreign kitchen, it’ll be either Italian or Indonesian.

Cooking is one of my favourite things to do and this will be an education for me as well.  The only down side is that I can’t spend much time in the kitchen standing. My back tells me that spending three hours in the kitchen cooking or baking is too much. This will influence the speed at which I’ll make the recipes mostly. While it’s perfectly possible to make the perfect beef Wellington (another goal), it’s probably the only thing I’ll do that day. But making a sauce is easy to prepare in advance, say in the afternoon, and cook the rest of the meal later after some rest.

I haven’t decided which one it’ll be, I still have time, but I do know I have to set some rules. Since there’s no fish or other sea things coming into this house, I’ll take the liberty to either skip that recipe or recreate it as a vegetarian dish or find a substitute, like chicken.

Hopefully, I will remember to take a photo of each dish, so I can post it here as well and make you drool.
