6 Years Of Guild Wars 2

I know, I’m a few days late, especially since I started playing with the three day head start. But does it matter? Is it bad to celebrate a birthday late? I celebrated my own (thirtieth) birthday at least four times this year, on different days, and only once on my birthday itself. I’m okay with celebrating a little late, preferably multiple times.

Save the Collosus in the Cliffside Fractal. Gain an achievement by bowing to him when he turns around and salutes.

I’ll celebrate Guild Wars 2’s anniversary multiple times if I could. So far, only two of my characters have received their sixth birthday presents and one big present account wide. The account wide box actually allows you to unlock a complete armor set, two weapon skins from the Luminous weapon set and it has a wardrobe unlock ticket. The ticket gave me the Gallant Axe Skin. I’m glad it’s not a generic skin, but actually one that worth something (155 gold? Yes, please). I don’t mind my axes without particle effects. I would definitely use it on my ranger or warrior.

The first four years were the good years, the years I played the most. And while I really like the areas of Path of Fire I haven’t spend as much time there. I should. I want to explore them some more. My characters also need the hero points for unlocking their elite specializations. But I’ll be honest. I haven’t played much of the last Living World update. I think I’m halfway through the story and I don’t feel the need to continue the story. Not yet anyways. I’ll go for mastery of the older areas first. I’m not done with it yet and won’t be for a long time.

Happy birthday Guild Wars 2, happy anniversary ArenaNet. To another six years. Cheers!

September Feature Patch

ArenaNet released the second feature pack on September the 9th. I didn’t really expect another feature pack would be released so soon, but it’s very welcome. I love new, free content in games that I love to play. Who doesn’t like free stuff that keeps you playing? ArenaNet has given us some new amazing things, but nothing can beat the wardrobe feature, right?

April Fools 2014 - Guild Wars 2

My most anticipated feature in Guild Wars 2

I read about it somewhere last year and I’ve wanted one long before this longing had a name. I’ve played other games with this feature and it’s something I know I’ll spend a lot of time and money on. Yes, I’m talking about the wardrobe.

The would-be Play List

Last monday I finished my daily for Guild Wars 2 and startes a new playthrough of Dragon Age:Origins. I still need to finish Awakenings, the other DLC campaigns and 2. I would’ve finished most of Origins by now if Tuesday didn’t happen.

Guild Wars 2 – Black Citadel Vistas

These are the screenshots of the vistas in the Black Citadel, the capital of the Charr. One thing that I noticed was that it’s build next to the Ruins of Rin, the previous capital before the Charr overran it in Guild Wars Prophecies. It’s sad to see that so little is left of it. But, to be honest, I think the Black Citadel is the ugliest city in the whole game. Sure, it matches with the Charr culture, but it looks like a junkyard. Not really my favorite place to be.

A head start in Guild Wars 2

Guild Wars 2 is officially released august 28th, but pre-purchasers have a three-day head start and started playing yesterday. Although ArenaNet has been testing quite a lot, open betas and stress tests, the unofficial launch didn’t go well. I’ve heard a lot of people who compared it to the Diablo 3 last may.

The servers were planned to go live around 9:00 CET, it was possible they might open them early so they could fix some issues before everyone would storm the gates. It didn’t help. When I checked twitter around eight, shortly after I woke up, there were already messages about connectivity issues, black screens and tutorial bugs. Error 42 became the new error 37.

The “cannot connect”-error wasn’t the only launch problem. There are still features of the game that don’t work as they should. The parties, guild system and the Black Lion Trading system aren’t working as they should. ArenaNet has given themselves an opportunity to find and fix these problems before the real launch. I really hope that when the rest of the world with normal orders, everyone can still play without too much problems. It would be very bad if the connection issues return tomorrow.

Expect some more this week. I’ve tried to gather some screenshots of the vistas. I’ll put them in a gallery for everyone’s view pleasure.
